Notes from here and there…

The “How to Be Rich” series starts this week. There are 30 small groups studies that are meeting in various locations and at various times – something for all of us to attend. Check out this week’s bulletin for details or look here
This week you should read pages 1-36 in the book to be ready for your small group. If you don’t have a book, pick one up in the foyer this week.

The mission statement of Fairview Missionary Church is “Helping people take their next step toward Jesus.” As Caring Pastor I sometimes find myself helping people take their last step toward Jesus by helping them with the process of saying goodbye to this world and waiting to hear “welcome home” in heaven. We all are going to die (unless the rapture takes place first) and those loved ones left behind on this earth after our death will grieve our passing. Grief is painful. I have been watching a set of 13 DVDs called “GriefShare”. They are very good. I wish I’d had these years ago. GriefShare is for anyone who has lost a loved one or knows someone who has lost a loved one. A 13 week session of GriefShare begins Monday, April 4, 6:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room (entrance 9). The best healing resource I know is the daily email from GriefShare. Sign up using the link below.

Notes from my family…

Anna, my 14 year old grand daughter, played 8th grade basketball for her school this year. She played every game, sometimes the whole game, and had a lot of fun. Yet, her team forfeited every game before the games even started. Why? The rules say you need 9 team members. They could never dress 9 players because of injury and academic ineligibility. She is signed up for high school which is more challenging than her parents’ college courses.

11 year old grandson, Zane, played Upward Basketball. In his last game he scored 20 points. He is point guard and has a very good coach. He has a future in basketball.

7 year old grandson, Ty, says he is not going to college. He is going to get his own youtube channel to make money.

10 year old Aislynn writes in her journal about every night and has for two years. She writes about how her day has been. Someday I think this will all be published. She is definitely two steps ahead of the game academically and in vocabulary.

Isla, 8 years old, is a “mini mom”. She helps with her two younger sisters and has her dad’s sense of humor. Her favorite TV show is “Saved by the Bell” on Netflix. I think her dad watched that a lot too.

5 year old grand daughter, Brinn, is in preschool. She tells grandma she likes everyone in her class except one boy. “He thinks he is hot lava.” I’m not sure what “hot lava” means, but even at age five she is evaluating the boys.

Nora, 3 1/2 months, is growing fast. She is her mom’s newest model for the Super Kids Cape shop.

That’s the latest on the grandkids.
