I get a lot of questions about everything. One of the best ever comes from a person in North Carolina who attends FMC 2-3 times a year and has family at FMC. She called me on my cell phone to ask, ‘Pastor Norm, would it be stealing if I took 2 or 3 leaves from a tobacco plant in a field without the farmer knowing it?’ I suggested she ask the farmer and he would probably give her the tobacco. She wanted it to use it as a plate for some food dish, so she said. I think she really wanted to smoke it without paying for it. She did not want to ask the farmer. I then suggested she do it at night and pray the farmer does not have a dog protecting his tobacco. I also told her I was not going to visit her if she goes to jail. The next time she is here, I will see if I can introduce her to the whole congregation. That will probably scare her to a better life. Thanks, Ann, for a good question.
