Norm’s Notes |
October 25, 2012 |
We Believe the Lie
The Scripture that best describes our nation is 2 Thess. 2:10-11, they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sent them a powerful delusion so they would perish. We, as a nation, refuse to love the truth of Jesus Christ. Officially, we tolerate it only because we have to legally accept it, secretly hoping no one objects. The minute someone objects to a Christian symbol or the name Jesus, most often the symbol or Jesus’ name is removed. We don’t want to offend anyone; seldom do we care if we offend God. The result of our refusing to love the truth of Jesus Christ is that God has sent us a powerful delusion that we would believe the lie. The lie comes in many different forms.
We have believed the lie of evolution, that we somehow evolved from apes or fish or something when we are really a special creation of God.
We have believed the lie of abortion being a “choice” and we kill millions of unborn babies when even science clearly shows the unborn know and feel and are people before birth.
We have believed the lie that we can somehow borrow ourselves into prosperity. If we don’t stop this real soon the collapse will be worse than any we have ever seen.
We have believed the lie of separation of church and state. We are the first generation to believe this in the way we do. I am the church and I cannot (will not) separate my beliefs from any area of involvement, even government.
We have believed the lie that to remove God and Christian symbols from public life will somehow give us more freedom when in fact “where the spirit of the Lord is” is what gives us the very freedoms we enjoy.
Some believe the lie that they can fellowship with those who deny God. Those Christ-followers who are a part of a political party that would openly vote three times to remove any mention of God from their platform for our nation must see themselves either as missionaries to the spiritually blind or they should come out from among them.
We have believed the lie that our nation was not founded on Christian principles. This is a total revision of history. From the Mayflower to the 1960’s Christian documents and Christianity dominated almost all aspects of our nation. (See the sidebar for a video disproving this lie.)
Some are trying to get us to believe the lie that marriage should be redefined to be something different than God’s design. We should be reinforcing marriage, not redefining it.
The rich American church has believed the lie that its material prosperity is the blessing of God. The majority of the world that lives in extreme poverty will rise up at the judgment and condemn us for keeping so much to ourselves and not being willing to change our lifestyles to help them. I could go on with more.
When we believe the lie long enough, and think that the lie is actually the truth, God says the end result is you perish and the society that all the lie-believers live in perishes too. All of this calls for serious PRAYER and REPENTANCE.
