Easter Musical – “Who Do You Say I Am?”

I have watched parts of three Easter musical rehearsals and we are all in for another blessing of drama and music. The first thing I noticed, and you will too, is how young the drama cast is (in contrast to the “mature” choir). In one scene there are 21 young people on the stage dancing and the oldest young person there is 22 years old (I had to ask her age). The “hammer scene” leading up to the crucifixion, the part of the musical that will stay in our hearts and minds for a long time, is done by seven teens.

God has brought together 90 people to tell His salvation story. Of those 90 people, 31 are under the age of 19 and 15 of the 90 are in an Easter musical for the first time. I asked some of the people who are new to the musical this year to tell me what they are experiencing in the rehearsals. Here are their responses:

“For me, being in the Easter musical is a lot like falling in love. It gives you butterflies, sweating palms, it’s nerve wracking, exhilarating, vulnerable, thrilling, inspiring, and you know it is going to hurt really bad when it’s over. Thank you! I really have loved this opportunity to be in this play!”

“We are new to FMC and one way we have gotten involved has been the Easter production. Everyone has been so welcoming and it has been a great way to get to know more of the FMC family. We’re so happy God has brought us here!”

Many of us have no idea what it takes to put together a musical of this type. My estimate there are at least 10,000 hours of practice and work when everything is added up. A huge thank you to everyone who has worked so hard. See below for presentation times.

Please be in prayer as to whom you are inviting to the musical this year. Pray for the cast and crew. It is a very long week with three full cast rehearsals and four performances. Regular attenders, if possible, please park on the lower level lot as far from the church as possible to save the best parking spaces for our guests.
