Some people God has brought across my path recently
A special prayer for a member of the FMC family we have never met. Each week our office sends out eight CDs of the messages. One of these CDs goes to a lady in Minnesota, Cathy. She is 60 years old and blind. She considers FMC her church. I have never met Cathy but I think we will someday because her parents live in Edon, Ohio. She calls 2-3 times a year just to talk. She called again last week and shared with me the story of her frost bitten fingers. On January 28, 2014, she went outside to get the mail at the end of her driveway. She dropped a piece and when she bent over to pick it up she got disoriented and could not find her way back up her driveway to her house. There was blowing snow, wind, and a wind chill 30-40 degrees below zero. She was not sure how long she walked around and up and down several driveways, knowing each time she arrived at a house that it was not her house. No one saw her, no one was outside except her. Finally she decided that at the next drive she was just going to knock on whatever door she came to. That house was her neighbor across the street. Cathy ended up in the hospital for a week with fingers the size of sausages. The doctors would have amputated them but Cathy uses her fingers to see because she is blind. Three months later she still does not read Braille or cook because the feeling has not returned. I prayed with her over the phone. I encourage all the FMCers to pray for complete healing for Cathy’s fingers so she can “see” again. I said to her, if she ever gets down this way to visit her parents, please stop in to see me. I just think and pray that sometime this summer we all will meet Cathy some Sunday morning.
Earl stopped in to the church last week. I had never met him before. He said that he had attended the military banquet at FMC the last two years and he needed to get back to church. We talked for a while. I showed him the sanctuary. I did not see him Sunday, but I pray he starts to attend. He was in the Korean War.
Robert. I talked with Robert Saturday afternoon. He works in the receiving and sorting room at Project Help. He is partially disabled by cancer. He told me he used to attend another church in town but that church no longer meets. I invited him to FMC. He said, “I need to come. I have never heard anything bad about your church.”
These are just three people whose paths crossed mine in the last week. Who has God brought across your path that you can help them take their next step toward Jesus?
