Norm’s Notes

June 19, 2015

Here is what I learned on the “Trips with Norm and Linda” recently. You can use this trivia to impress your friends:

The farm trip…
1. A pig’s teeth never stop growing. It’s as though they are always “teething” and that is why pigs like to chew on anything they can get their mouths on.
2. The average pig provides 475 slices of bacon.

The South Bend trip…
The bricks for the original buildings at Notre Dame were made by digging up the bottom of the lake on campus in the mid 1800’s.

Are you ready for another trip? Linda is planning a trip for adult ladies to Frankenmuth, Michigan, by Cardinal bus on Saturday, October 17. Tickets are $45 and will be available starting July 5.

Just for fun… David and Goliath of soccer
Women’s world cup soccer is now being played. Did you see / hear about 28 ranked Colombia beating 3rd ranked France? France had 21 shots on goal, none scoring. Colombia had 3 shots on goal, 2 went in. Colombia 2, France 0. It was called the biggest upset ever in world cup soccer.
See you Sunday!

Notes about some of the things that are under my umbrella of responsibility

CARS Ministry: I am thankful for the two cars that were recently given to the CARS ministry and news that a third car is coming soon. The CARS men go over these vehicles and then give them to someone who needs transportation or sell them to help fund repairs on other vehicles. CARS is one of the most practical ministries of the church.

Community Gift and Craft Show at Fairview: applications for vendor spaces are trickling in. Get information on our website.

Mingle, Muffins and More: I had someone tell me they are looking forward to this and have written the date on their calendar that the section of the sanctuary they normally sit it has its “mingle time”. They have always wanted to meet the people who sit in front of them.
