Norm’s Notes August 1, 2013

Pastor Norm

Random Thoughts
Here is a must see note and video from our missionary to Liberia.

Hi Pastor Norm,
I am writing to let you know that the Bible Institute’s construction is finished! Please tell the congregation that the project is complete and classes will start on the 18th of next month.
Construction cost is hard to predict when you live in the interior. Prices on material change daily depending on if the roads are open for supply trucks to get through. Our construction cost was higher than we had anticipated. We anticipated the construction to cost $12,000. The church raised $17,400 for the project. I praise God for His miraculous provisions. We ran out of money on the very last day of construction. At the end of the day we paid our workers and we were out of money. The project’s total cost was $17,440. God gave us
exactly what we needed to complete the project. I made a short video to thank the church for their partnership with us.

I cannot thank you enough for your partnership on behalf of the Liberian people. The harvest is plentiful here! God is working in powerful ways!

One of the hot topics in our day is immigration. The evangelical church has often not been in the forefront of helping immigrants to our nation. Studies show that 86% of the immigrants coming to America either are or will become Christians. This group is renewing many churches that are nearly dead, though not in ways we may be accustomed to. The largest Burmese immigrant population is right in Fort Wayne and our own Fellowship Missionary Church is at the front of helping this group.

For those who like to be challenged and changed, spend time at this link: Welcoming the Stranger. Caution, you may not agree with everything there but you will be challenged to think through this topic.

Also, the website Evangelical Immigration Table will stretch your mind and heart.

For those who have had too much fair time: “Come to me, all you cowboys who are tuckered out and tired of holdin’ a heavy heart, and I’ll give you rest.”  Matthew11:28 (“Cowboy translation”)

I am excited about the future. It’s great to be your pastor in transition.
