Partnering with people that God is using pumps me up. In May, 2013, we commissioned the Don Riley family to go to Liberia to teach and plant churches in a spiritually hungry nation.
In June 2013 God provided, through you, $17,400 for the Bible institute to be built. Classes started just two weeks ago with spiritually hungry people coming from all over the country but there was no food to feed the students for the two weeks of classes. The students said, “That’s ok, we will come anyway. Jesus fasted for 40 days, we can fast for two weeks.” That, my friends, is spiritual hunger.
Recently we asked Don to give us another project to help with. He said the mission needs motor bikes. The bikes they have are in very bad shape. They need ten bikes and gasoline to run them. The bikes are only $1,000 each. Gas for one year for each bike is approximately $1,000 ($5 per gallon). This Sunday, September 1, we are asking God for a special offering of $20,000 over and above our regular giving. I pray for ten people to each underwrite the cost of one bike and then 400 people who are led to give $25 each to fill the tanks. The bikes are used to spread the gospel all over Liberia.
When Don read my letter saying we would provide the bikes and gas, the people shouted and danced into the night and declared there would be no more forced R&R at the mission. When we all get to heaven there will be people from Liberia who we’ve never met on earth that will come up to us and say, “I heard the message of Jesus because you gave the money to buy bikes and gas.”
Thank you, congregation, for accepting this opportunity to provide bikes to reach spiritually hungry people.
