Random Thoughts

This Sunday
I am excited about this Sunday. We are going to do something old-fashioned. Dan Cairl on the piano, Beth Stepp leading singing (the rest of the worship team has Sunday off and Glenn is with his new grandson in Colorado). This is the way it was years ago. All of the songs are from the hymnal, but will be on the big screen too. The message is from 1980 – The Altar, Why do we have one? I may even preach from behind the pulpit and not a podium. Bring your neighbors. I will see if my leisure suit still fits me!

Last Sunday in the second service I sat next to the back wall in the sanctuary. From my spot I could see parts of eight rows and I counted 20 people in those 8 rows I did not know. Ten of these folks entered the sanctuary after the service had started. God is at work on our behalf to bring another new wave of new attenders to FMC. Be sure to greet everyone around you. It is likely that if you do not know them, it may be their first Sunday at FMC.

Thank you. Last Sunday’s special offering for our partners in Liberia was $45,000. Thank you for your extreme generosity. You may still give to this offering this week if you want to. Below is Donny’s thank you note to us.

Dear Fairview,
Thank you for your partnership in the Gospel. Each time our ministry has had a need, you have given generously to meet that need. Though our ministries are oceans apart, we are united and the Gospel is moving forward! Thank you! Your Brothers and Sisters in Christ are rejoicing in Liberia as you have given them all they need to move forward. We will immediately begin to look for land to build a church planting base with the vision of seeing a healthy church in every town and village of Maryland County, River Gee County, and Grand Kru County. After the base is well established, we will begin to build a small business making this our first church planting base that is run by Liberians and funded by Liberians. FUN! Thank you! I will send you pictures and testimonies as things develop.
Your Brother in Christ, Don

Remember my prayer for God to raise up a teacher team for a new small church for young people? One couple has answered that prayer. Now I am praying for two more couples or individuals who want to help too.Contact me after praying.

“Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like windwhipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.”

See you Sunday!
